AI Native Senior Software Engineer (m/f/d)

DextraData Office - Essen, DextraData Office - Berlin, DextraData Office - München
Full or part-time
Permanent employee

Your mission

In this role, you will rapidly design, build, and evolve digital products using the latest AI-assisted development workflows. Acting as both a developer and a multiplier, you will leverage AI systems to accelerate coding, testing, documentation, and deployment. In doing so, you will lead your small, autonomous team, consisting of Engineer, Product, and UX, to meaningful, high-quality releases and report directly to the Head of Engineering or the AI Excellence Center.

Your Responsibilities

  • Co-create innovative solutions within a small, AI-enabled, cross-functional team (Engineer, Product, UX).
  • Use advanced AI tools (coding assistants, copilots, auto-documentation, etc.) to develop high-quality software at high speed.
  • Rapidly prototype, test, and iterate new features or product ideas.
  • Translate complex product requirements into clean, maintainable technical solutions.
  • Identify ambiguous requirements early using AI-assisted tools, collaborate with Product Management to clarify intentions, and co-design optimal solutions.
  • Maintain and evolve a comprehensible and self-explanatory codebase (AI-friendly documentation).
  • Share insights, workflows, and best practices with the Center for AI Excellence.
  • Stay ahead of the latest trends in AI and development tools to bring new capabilities into the team.
  • Balance experimentation with pragmatic engineering, knowing when to ship and when to refactor.

Your profile

  • At multiple years of experience in software development or equivalent expertise.
  • Deep understanding of AI-assisted development tools and standards, from code copilots (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) to generative builders (Lovable) and connectivity frameworks (MCP) for real-time context and tool integration.
  • Strong command of at least one backend language (Java, Python, Go, TypeScript, etc.) and one frontend framework (React, Vue.js, etc.).
  • Familiarity with prompt engineering and model integration (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) as well as automation APIs.
  • Knowledge of AI/LLM security principles, including prompt injection prevention, model access control, and data privacy in generative systems.
  • Understanding of modern delivery practices, such as CI/CD, containerization, and cloud environments.
  • Bonus: Experience with LLM operations, data pipelines, or AI evaluation frameworks.

Your Mindset

  • You see AI as your ideal pair programmer, debugger, and documentation engine.
  • You build for clarity and comprehensibility, so others (and AIs) can easily understand and maintain your work.
  • You thrive in dynamic, loosely defined environments with small teams and significant autonomy.
  • You have a strong product sense and think in user journeys, not just code paths.

What Success Looks Like

  • Product ideas turn into working prototypes within days, not weeks.
  • AI tools are seamlessly integrated into every step of development, from ideation to testing.
  • The team becomes self-sustaining, delivering impactful features without heavy managerial overhead.
  • Your code is clear, maintainable, and explainable, both for humans and AI.

Why us?

  • Autonomy, responsibility, and opportunities for innovation.
  • Tailored training, certifications, and career development paths.
  • A hybrid working model (3 days per week in the office) and flexible workation policy.
  • Employer-funded benefits such as pensions, fitness, bicycles, and childcare subsidies.
  • A collaborative culture with short communication channels and constructive feedback.

If you are ready to shape the future of software development with us and fully leverage the possibilities of AI, we look forward to hearing from you!
